Lake Cable’s Air Missions: When Delivery Matters…

On any given day, there’s a good chance you’ll find Lake Cable Founder Bill Runzel flying employees to our plants, picking up customers in other cities or taking off toward an industry trade show.

In addition to making wire, Bill’s a seasoned Instrument Rated pilot who has logged over 3,000 hours of flight time dating back to college. When it comes down to it, he finds flying to be the most effective way to get from point A to point B in one day.

But sometimes Bill goes to some very special destinations that aren’t in that usual flight path. Like when a combat veteran is severely wounded and needs help making a connection they’ve been waiting for in what feels like a lifetime.

Lake Cable shows southern California how solar energy is no pipe dream.

Next year, about 140,000 homes in southern California are going to benefit from solar electricity, generated from hundreds of thousands of mirrors in the Mojave desert absorbing energy from the sun.

The Ivanpah project, which is scheduled for completion in 2013, spans 3500 acres and will have 300,000 software-controlled mirrors to track the sun and concentrate its reflection to boilers that sit atop three 459 foot tall towers.

What is Lake Cable’s contribution to this project? Cable, of course!

The Lake Cable Copper Bowl

By this time, it seems like there’s a college football bowl for just about everything (including the San Diego Country Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl). With this in mind, we thought…why should we be any different? That’s why we were proud to give the world the Lake Cable Copper Bowl.

No, you wouldn’t have found the Copper Bowl on your local ESPN network. We provided it to our customers online at http://lakecable.collegeexpertsclub.com/. Each week, Lake Cable’s college football fantasy pick ‘em league let customers channel their inner prognosticator to choose the winners of each college football game. For lucky weekly winners like Andy Pisarski and Tony Spina, they walked away with a $50 gift card and the chance to win a grand prize at the end of the season: Tickets for 4 to a major sporting event in Chicago or a local venue of the winner’s choosing.

Part of the fun was that you didn’t need to be a complete football guru to win. Players could earn points just from picking the winners of each game and even check out who their competitors were picking too.

Making Job Sharing Work For All Of Us

Lake Cable and private high school team up for work study program success

We probably can all remember “Career Day” at school in which an adult came into our classroom and explained what they did for a living. At Lake Cable, we’re proud to be involved with something even bigger – helping students not only experience our environment on a deeper level but also earn income to cover a large portion of their private school tuition costs.

It’s what happened when we were asked to be involved with a program through Christ the King Jesuit College Preparatory School.

This high school based on the west side of Chicago partners with businesses in the area to fill full-time entry-level jobs for students challenged by limited economic resources.
